The Detective

"The truth lies before you in disguise."

In being a detective in your life, you have to start by knowing what it is you are doing and when and why you are doing it at any given moment. This means, you must be conscious. You have to be present. Otherwise, you run the risk of functioning on automatic pilot. Automatic pilot is okay if you want to cook the same way you read a book. Or run a mile the same way you type a paper. Or make love the same way you ride the subway to work. In life, each activity requires your separate and full attention. And in giving your full attention, you will most likely follow suit by feeling the need to make choices. By making choices you are deciding what your life will be from one day to the next, from one moment to the next. This in turn will give your life a shape, a design, a purpose. By making choices, you assume responsibility for your life. By assuming responsibility you are guaranteed a more satisfying life by the mere fact that no one but you is at the helm running the ship according to your own wants and needs, your own dreams and desires. What could be better?

You'd be surprised.
